Hydro Power

Al-Fajr International (AFI) is one of the Pioneers in development of small Hydro Power Projects in the northern part of Pakistan. In particular AFI contributed in the installation of small Hydro Power Plants ranging from 100 KW to 3 MW in isolated areas of Pakistan not connected to the national grid. The targeted areas are Gilgit-Baltistan, KP Province and AJK. AFI played a vital role in design, manufacture and import of high-quality electro-mechanical equipment from reputed manufacturers in Europe and China. They also trained local engineers and technicians both abroad (ex-works) and on the job during execution of a number of contracts, thus providing installation and O & M skills to the local engineers. AFI also worked jointly with HMC (Heavy Mechanical Complex) to encourage transfer of technology and indigenous production of electro-mechanical plants. Looking at present energy shortages and resource constraints in the country, AFI is now engaged in PPP (Public Private Partnership) Projects, IPP (Independent Power Projects) and EPC / Turnkey Projects with and without financing.

AFI believes that economic development in Pakistan is only possible with sufficient clean energy at an affordable cost. Therefore, hydropower shall always remain a key sector of activity in AFI.
