Description
Al-Fajr International, being a local representative, facilitated M/s. Sambu-Construction Co. S/Korea by awarding them the contract for the construction of 106 MW Golen Gol Hydropower Project of WAPDA (Civil Works) valuing Rs.1.9 Billion in August, 2010. The project is under way.
This project is located approximately 550 Km to the north of Islamabad in District Chitral, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan in the famous Kalash Valley and Hot Springs.
Chitral town is accessible by road and air, but both means are dependable on weather conditions, especially in the winter season. The road link in this territory remains suspended due to closure of the road passing through Lowari Pass at an altitude of 3200m. This is due to heavy snow fall during December to April. Whereas bad weather conditions do not permit landing of small propeller type aero planes on the small airport linked with Peshawar and Islamabad. However, a roadway tunnel through the Lowari Pass is under construction which is expected to be completed in a couple of years.
The generated power shall be connected to the WAPDA National Grid through a 132 KV transmission line.Info
